Who handles your data
The data controller is the association Studenti Bocconiani Liberali – Milton Friedman Society, Via Roberto Sarfatti 25, 20136 Milano. For any request, write to friedman.society@gmail.com.
What we collect
When you complete the political compass we collect the email address you enter, your answers as scores on the two axes, the resulting profile, the site language and your newsletter choice. When you subscribe to The Friedman Letter, from the box at the bottom of the pages or from the compass, your email address goes to Substack, the platform we send it with. Browsing the site collects nothing else.
Why we use it
We use your email to show you your test result and, only if you ticked the box, to send you the association's newsletter. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) of EU Regulation 2016/679). Subscribing to the newsletter is optional and is not required to see your result.
How long we keep it
We keep test data for 24 months. Your newsletter subscription stays active until you unsubscribe, which you can do at any time from the link at the bottom of every email or by writing to us.
Who we share it with
We never sell or hand over your data. The newsletter runs on Substack, Inc., based in the United States: the address you enter goes into The Friedman Letter's subscriber list on Substack, which also handles it under its own privacy policy. The transfer of data to the United States takes place under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which Substack has signed up to. To collect compass data we use third-party services that act as data processors on our behalf.
Cookies
This site uses no cookies: no technical, analytics or profiling cookies, and it loads no third-party content that would set them. That is why we don't ask for consent with a banner. The only thing the site stores in your browser (in localStorage, not in a cookie) is the language you chose, so it can show you pages in that language on later visits; you can clear it at any time from your browser settings. If you subscribe to the newsletter, Substack's site opens, and it has its own cookie rules.
Your rights
You can ask at any time to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your data, or to receive a copy of it, and you can withdraw your consent without consequences. Just email friedman.society@gmail.com. If you believe the processing breaks the law, you can complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).
